This is the story of how the MERCADO Brand began, and has been Reborn…

Hello everyone, my name is Lee Gallery and I’m the Owner of MercadoStores.com and the domain name MercadoStore.co.uk.

As a young man in my 20’s I had always dreamed of having my very own business and meeting a beautiful Asian lady and after many years and different circumstances hard work, failed relationships and finally, a 10 year long journey of private study in and around Law and business in 2010 to form a team to build a project around a Religious and Charitable Organization that finally started around 2013/14, and it was in 2016, at the age of 38, that one of my dreams had finally come true! It was then that I met my amazing partner Marian.

Just a year later when the organization was beginning to take shape, our research team had been let down badly by the project director forcing me and others to find alternative careers, projects or directions. I myself chose to go back to my routes that started in Retail Customer Service and take an additional position Consulting for Wills and Trusts in an attempt to regain my confidence and dignity, rebuild and make up for lost time.

Thankfully we had managed to save as many of the project managers as possible before moving on to a new life in a new town all thanks to the support and love of Marian, always beside me, through the absolute worst and the very best of me, I could not ever have asked or wished for more…

Upon getting to know my partner and her family, and after hearing all of the truly amazing hard working stories of the successes of her parents, it was around the time of October 2018, I then decided to use all the knowledge I had gained when I earned a “New Entrepreneur Scholarship” with “The Princes Trust” back in 2008, and then apply and focus on all the positive knowledge and experiences I had gained thereafter and have a real go at re-establishing my partners family business and brand.

To do this I knew it was not going to be easy, but I have all the confidence I need, and their already honored family name, Mercado, (Spanish word for Market) had been a very successful family business based in Manila, Philippines for many years, (est. around 1976) that started out as a small Market Store, known at the time as, Mercado Merchandising. Then around the year of 1985, it grew to become one of the biggest wholesalers of rice. A few years later the business managed to extend this to include many known big name brands of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, delivering to the market stores it started out as, that continued to give great value and prices to its own market and retail customers.

After many years of hard work and success, starting at rock bottom, my partner’s parents decided to sell the business for retirement around 2008, a well-known retail supermarket now stands in its place.

To bring Mercado back to life, I decided to create a general store with a variety of great value products that solve problems and provide comfort and support as well as give a feel good factor in multiple niches, but first and foremost, we are once again a Family Business that loves to provide great customer service again that we believe will provide the quality and value that we expect ourselves, at great prices, delivered strait to your door.

Having a lot of life experience over the years, we would like to inform our followers and customers that we aim to build a Charitable Organization from the profits to give valuable support for People with Dementia and fund research for Children with Downs Syndrome that will provide tools and new information, vital to improve their quality of life.
